What was once unkown is now a legacy...
That which has only 50,000 copes in existence...
Birthed by a little development house in Japan...
A dream of one man who would not give up...
Now that it's done...
I've begun to see the reason why it was made.
Up to the time that Radiant Silvergun first appeared on the Sega Saturn back in 1998, gamers were always used to playing shooters with one main goal in mind.....KILL EVERYTHING ON THE SCREEN!! ...no ifs, ands, or butts. Hiroshi Iuchi, backed by Treasure & their designers, changed all that. Of course you could play the game in a very conventional way ...however... human nature makes us want more variety within whatever we are doing at any given time. Thus the combo system arrived to give us exactly what we never knew we needed in the first place. Throw in SEVEN different onboard weapons, one of which is a sword?!, large scale bosses of which the likes I have never seen and some MERRY DOGS to find with a peculiar range target seeker and you've got the makings of a hit title ...who knew. This would have been good enough for many a gamer, but then this man goes and adds a story so compelling it actually becomes part of your life. Think Noah's Ark crossed with Twelve Monkeys. Be it the hidden message for the sake of humanity, or by getting blown away for the artistic mammoth that it is, people have NEVER forgotten the experience this game has given them. This is in no small part due to the deeply moving orchestral score, which accompanies these events, created by composer Hitoshi Sakimoto. To this day I still don't know what means more to me ...the game, or the soundtrack. Once more, this title has yet another nuance attatched to it other than its impressive design ...its rarity! There are still so many people out there that have never even seen this title, much less gotten their hands on it. The current price tag is about 150-200 dollars. For those of you reading this that have yet to be graced by Radiant Silvergun ...let me tell you, IT'S WORTH IT!! I can't imagine my life without it. Other than Sin & Punishment, also by Treasure, it truly is the only import worth buying from Japan that can still impress even the most jadded mainstream gamer to date. I've seen, and heard of, reactions out of people from seeing this game for the first time ...they were, simply put, in AWE! It is the #1 title to own for the Sega Saturn; pushing its graphic power to the limits more so than any other game, it is the #1 Shooter ever made, it is the #1 choice for game collectors around the world, it is the #1 game made by Treasure; as many would say or agree to and it is the #1 reason Silver Translations was created. To bring to light one of the greatest games ever made! It carries such a heavy weighted reputation ...and a great one at that. However ...seeing as how it was made by a Japanese company, it is, of course, in Japanese. To date, the English speaking world has obviously grasped the concept of chaining attacks, scoring, level movement, & weapon manipulation ...but they really don't have a firm grasp on the full story or what Hiroshi Iuchi was trying to say with his brilliant creation. UNITL NOW!!! Silver Translations is proud to present you with this detailed translation package which will bring you closer to Radiant Silvergun than you ever thought possible!! The full story, in game spoken dialogue and other personal notes from the creators are now at your fingertips to read and enjoy! Now the legacy can be re-born, re-told, and re-played...
To those of you who still believe, & for those who soon will, all my best...
